J2の情報: 日本学のオンライン勉強

今年、私は日本の学習院大学で交換留学する予定でした。私は、学生として日本を経験したことがなくて、留学が日本学の専攻の一番すばらしいことだと言われています。しかし、世界のコロナウイルスの影響のために、交換留学がキャンセルされてしまいました。海外旅行してはだめで、家で止めることが必要でした。それから、日本語のオンライン勉強を始めました。この私しが書いているブログは私のオンライン勉強の経験を説明して、J2のためのオンライン授業についてのアドバイスを説明しようと思います。

This year, I was planning on doing my Study Abroad in Japan at Gakushuin University in Tokyo. I had never experienced Japan as a student before and it is said that the study abroad is the highlight of the Japanese Studies degree. However, due to the situation with COVID-19 across the world, the exchange was unfortunately cancelled. Any travel abroad from the UK was forbidden, and I had to stay at home. As a result, I started studying Japanese online. In this blog I will cover my experiences with online study of Japanese and give tips to J2 students as it is possible that they will also have to study online next academic year.

９月、私は成蹊大学のオンライン授業に参加し始じめました。ズームというプログラムを使いました。私はズームの授業に参加したことがありませんでしたから、初めに、ちょっとへんだと思いました。例えば、先生が学生の手で書いた作文をチェックする時、スクリーンをシェアをしなければいけませんでした。そして、WI-FIの問題がよくありましたから、起きる時、全然聞こえませんでした。大変でした！もちろん、ズームの使い方に慣れて、今、普通だと思います。多分、来学年、授業のためにズームを使い続けるかもしれなくて、便利さがあります。例えば、講義を取ることができて、天気が悪い時、出ることが必要じゃないです。

In September, I started to take Seikei University’s online course for Japanese using Zoom. I had never taken Zoom classes before so at first it was a little strange. For example, when a teacher wanted to check my written work, I had to share my screen. Also, often we had problems with WIFI so sometimes I could not hear a thing. It was so annoying! Of course, eventually I got used to using Zoom and now it feels normal. It is likely that the use of Zoom for teaching will continue into next academic year, and it does have its benefits. For example, you can record your lectures and you do not have to go outside when the weather is terrible.

次、私はJ2のためのオンライン授業のアドバイスのことを説明します。まず、クラスメートと一緒にグループチャットを作ることが大切だと思います。教室で勉強していなければ、日本語を話せるクラスメイトと交流する機会がありません。それから、日本語を練習することが難しくなるはずです。グループチャットを作ったら、クラスメイトと日本学について話せて、交流し続けます。その加えに、できるだけオンライン授業に交流することが必要です。３年生の時、自分の日本語能力も一気に跳ね上がることがすごく大切ですから、いつも日本語を練習したらいいともいます。

Next, I am going to give some advice to J2 about learning Japanese online. Firstly, I think that making a group chat is very important. If you are not studying Japanese in a classroom environment, you are missing out on a chance to interact with your Japanese-speaking classmates. As a result, practising speaking Japanese becomes more difficult. If you make a group chat, you can continue to interact together and talk about Japanese studies. To add to that, it’s crucial to participate as much as possible in your online Japanese lessons. In third year, improving your Japanese level quickly is extremely important so always trying to speak Japanese in your online classes is a good thing to do.

もちろん、家で止める時、学生として色々な問題はおそらく現れます。オンライン勉強する時、ちょつと寂しくなりやすくなって来るはずです。友達とクラスメイトと先生と自分の問題について話せることを覚えてください。日本語の勉強と私達の精神衛生にとって、この状況が大変でした。しかし、いい時間が来ています！

Of course, when staying at home, problems for students can arise. When doing online studying, it can become very easy to feel lonely. Just please remember that you can always talk to your friends, classmates, or teachers about anything. The last year has very difficult for us all both for Japanese Studies and our own wellbeing, but good times are coming!
