J-YAP IUSP Official Launch and First Week of Events

On Thursday 8th October, we were delighted to hold our official Launch Party, inviting university students and teachers from Japanese departments from around the UK to participate in the first of many an enjoyable event to come.

Following the successful launch, Monday 12th October saw the beginning of the first official week of sessions, featuring:

• Impactful Use of Japanese Characters: an introduction by Akiko Furukawa of SOAS to the strategic use of Japanese characters in various media

• Explore the World of Ee-kanji, English-kanji: a chance to discover a new form of fine art combining English words with Japanese kanji

Looking ahead, we are delighted to be in talks with several teachers about new online sessions for students, including those aimed at building language skills as well as others covering more fascinating topics surrounding Japan, Japanese culture and society.
