With several regular sessions sitting alongside a lovely smattering of special one-off events, the J-YAP IUSP calendar really started to come into its own this past week.
Week 4 sessions included:
Upper Intermediate Japanese: Conversation Class (Kazumi Tanaka, SOAS)
Pre-Intermediate Japanese: Conversation Class (Yumiko Schumacher)
Riko-chan House: a further opportunity for intermediate/advanced learners to develop their Japanese speaking skills (Riko Sherratt)
Basic Introduction to Japanese Linguistics (Part 1): an introduction to fundamental features of Japanese linguistics (Dr Michael Tsang, University of Newcastle)
Guest Talk by Ms Margaret Tongue from Foreign, Commonwealth and Development Office: an opportunity to hear about the roles and remits of foreign ministries and embassies, with Ms Tongue sharing knowledge from her own career and experiences.
We are greatly excited to be in talks about more new events providing not only Japanese language learning opportunities for students, but also the chance to explore topics relevant to future careers and broader academic interests.
Stay tuned to see what else goes on in future weeks!
